Opportunity We are seeking a dependable and organized Shop Foreman to support the HVAC RNTL warehouse operations. This role is critical in ensuring our equipment is ready for rapid deployment in emergency situations. The Shop Foreman will manage shop inventory, coordinate equipment staging and repairs, and direct shop technicians to maintain operational efficiency.
Responsibilities
Maintain accurate inventory of HVAC equipment and ancillary materials.
Ensure all items are properly labeled, stored, and tracked.
Under the direction of the National Service Leader, stage equipment in the shop and yard for testing and repair.
Participate in equipment testing and minor repairs as needed.
Direct shop technicians to complete tasks efficiently and on schedule.
Monitor work quality and provide guidance to ensure safety and performance standards are met.
Pull and prepare ancillary materials for outgoing jobs.
Inspect and inventory equipment upon return from job sites, noting any damage or maintenance needs.
Operate forklifts and Yard Dog vehicles to move equipment safely within the shop and yard.
Assist with equipment installations and breakdowns at job sites as needed.
Represent the company professionally while on‑site.
Use company shop trucks for job‑related travel; no take‑home vehicle is provided.
Required Profile
High School Diploma or equivalent
3+ years of experience in HVAC, mechanical, or rental equipment operations.
Prior leadership or supervisory experience is preferred.
Proficient with forklifts and warehouse operation.
Strong organizational and communication skills.
Ability to work in a fast‑paced, emergency‑response environment.
Must have a valid driver’s license with a good driving record.
Ability to prioritize and multitask.
Excellent customer service skills with a desire to exceed customer expectations.
Ability to work independently in a timely manner, making sure the job is done correctly the first time.
Operating knowledge of Microsoft Office software and working proficiency with handheld computers (i.e., Smartphone, iPad).
Ability to work in diverse conditions including mechanical equipment rooms with exposure to noisy operating equipment, extreme weather conditions, risk of electrical shock (high voltage), climbing/working at elevated heights, etc.
Must be able to climb, crawl, stoop, kneel and regularly lift and/or move up to 50 pounds, frequently lift and/or move up to 75 pounds.
Ability to work after business hours, weekends and holidays when needed.
Other Skills & Abilities Language Skills:
Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos. Ability to write correspondence. Ability to effectively present information in one‑on‑one and small group situations to customers, clients, and other employees of the organization.
Mathematical Skills:
Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals. Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percent and to draw and interpret graphs.
Reasoning Ability:
Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form. Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations. Mental stamina for problem solving and prioritizing multiple tasks.
Environmental Requirements:
Will be required to work in a field environment, multiple customer sites on a daily basis.
Physical Demands:
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to use hands to operate computer keyboard reach with hands and arms. The employee frequently is required to stand, walk, and sit. The employee is continually required to climb or balance and stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl. The employee must regularly lift and/or move up to 50 pounds, frequently lift and/or move up to 75 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus.
