Responsibilities We are seeking a CEI Senior Inspector who will be responsible for ensuring that the contractor's work on a project is being completed according to project design specifications and FDOT/Client quality standards, including but not limited to the qualitative and quantitative aspects of construction, accurate measurement and payment of work and the proper documentation of all aspects of construction. A CEI Senior Inspector must also be capable of managing lower-level inspectors. The Senior Inspector will be responsible for performing highly complex technical assignments in field surveying, construction layout, checking engineering computations, inspecting construction work, and conducting field tests and is responsible for coordinating and managing lower-level inspectors. The Senior Inspector is to report field activity and progress to the Project Manager/Administrator through field reports and weekly meetings and in a timely manner.
Physical Requirements
Safe operation of company vehicle
Working on uneven terrain
Frequent use of ladders
Hauling equipment and materials up to 40 lbs
Working in inclement weather conditions
Working independently
Repetitive bending/lifting to include overhead
Nighttime and weekend work hours may be required
Working on your feet 8 hours a day
Overtime work may be required
Field measurements and calculations
Requirements
High School Diploma/GED
4+ years FDOT experience specific to CEI project activities (soil, concrete, steel, and bridges)
Understanding of FDOT construction project administration methods and processes including but not limited to training in MAC, BlueBeam, Hummingbird and Site Manager programs
CTQP Certification in Asphalt, Concrete, Earthwork, pile driving and drilled shafts are required
Qualifications
Ability to read and interpret construction drawings and specifications, identify discrepancies and/or conflicts, solve problems and develop documentation
Ability to utilize survey equipment to verify field measurements and survey grades during construction, including but not limited to the use of GPS Rovers and Base system, to provide real-time feedback as to whether construction services meet project requirements
Ability to accomplish goals with minimal supervision and provide guidance and direction to staff inspectors
Ability to work as part of a team
