Seasonal Golf Course Maintenance – City of Gahanna
Responsibilities
Assist with maintenance and repair of the golf course and related equipment by performing manual tasks such as mowing grass, emptying trash cans, changing lightbulbs, and other related tasks.
Provide internal and external customer service.
Work in maintenance and repair of the golf course, equipment, buildings and grounds; perform associated paperwork.
Handle equipment safely and appropriately, using safety equipment when appropriate.
Coordinate work tasks with other golf course and pro shop staff.
Drive City vehicles.
Minimum Qualifications
High school diploma or equivalent.
Minimum one year of related experience.
Minimum 18 years of age.
Licensure or Certification Requirements
Current and valid Ohio driver's license with an acceptable driver's abstract to meet insurability criteria established by the City of Gahanna.
Worker may be called to work 24 hours/day, 7 days/week.
Worker may be required to wear specialized personal protective equipment.
Performs all other duties as assigned by Supervisor.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities Knowledge of
Principles, practices, equipment, tools, and materials used in parks maintenance and construction.
Landscaping and horticulture as applied to golf course and grounds areas.
Necessary precautions involved in the use of tools and landscaping equipment.
Skill in
As a member of the Parks Department, a high degree of accountability as most of the Department relates directly to the citizens of the City of Gahanna. Errors in judgment and/or legal difficulties will be dealt with directly by the Parks or Facilities Superintendent and the Director of Parks and Recreation.
Ability to: (Mental and Physical Abilities)
Establish and maintain effective working relationships with associates.
Work independently and under direct supervision.
Understand and follow specific oral instructions.
Read and write numbers and letters.
Speak and write effectively both orally and in written form.
Apply problem solving skills and perform critical thinking.
Hear to perceive information at normal spoken word levels.
Vocal communication is required for expressing or exchanging ideas by means of the spoken word.
Visual acuity is required for color perception, preparing and analyzing written or computer data, visual inspection involving small defects and/or small parts, use of measuring devices, assembly or fabrication of parts at or within arm's length, operation of machines, operation of motor vehicles or equipment, determining the accuracy and thoroughness of work, and observing general surroundings and activities.
Perform manual labor for extended periods, often under unfavorable weather conditions.
Exert 100 pounds of force occasionally; up to 50 pounds of force frequently and up to 20 pounds of force constantly to move objects.
Work requires climbing, balancing, stooping, kneeling, crouching, crawling, reaching, standing, walking, pushing, pulling, lifting, fingering, grasping, and repetitive motions.
Working Conditions
The employee is subject to inside and outside environmental conditions, extreme cold, extreme heat, noise, vibration, hazards and atmospheric conditions.
