Structural Engineer
Duration:
1 year (possible extension/conversion)

Birmingham, AL 35243
Shift timings:
Monday - Friday, Standard Shift, Hybrid 9:00 – 5:00 pm (may vary slightly depending on the project and the team members)
Job responsibilities
Providing structural engineering services and field support.
Conducting preparation of designs and calculations.
Conducting site walk downs of construction sites.
Developing cost estimates and material takeoffs.
Providing schedule and staffing input for projects.
Producing and checking structural steel design calculations and drawings.
Skillsets and expertise required
Detailed knowledge of structural steel and concrete design principles and industry methodologies, significant structural steel connection design experience.
Proficiency with structural codes and standards; extensive knowledge of heavy industrial structures and components; strong computer skills - proficiency with structural computer programs such as STAAD PRO.
Proficiency with OSHA regulations; able to coordinate and manage multiple large scale, multi-discipline projects; able to perform structural inspections and provide written reports; strong problem solving and decision-making abilities; and the ability to build effective relationships with plant staff, design engineering staff and/or vendors.
Education and expertise required
Requires 10+ years heavy industrial/power plant experience and an accredited bachelor’s degree.
