Sr. Audit Manager – BSA/AML City National Bank

About the Opportunity The Senior Audit Manager will lead a team of auditors to assess the design and operating effectiveness of internal controls, adherence to regulatory requirements and Bank policies, and the effectiveness of operations of the BSA/AML function. The Senior Manager will be responsible for all aspects of the audit, including planning, execution and reporting, and will be involved in internal and external issue validation as well as audit continuous monitoring activities. Data analytics will support continuous monitoring through information analytics, business intelligence, data mining and other technologies and tools.

Responsibilities

Providing independent and objective evaluation of the adequacy and effectiveness of Anti‑Money Laundering (AML) and Office of Foreign Assets Control (OFAC) practices for City National Bank (CNB).

Championing a thorough understanding of the AML and BSA requirements, including but not limited to the Bank Secrecy Act and OFAC regulations, guidance and regulatory expectations.

Supporting the Director of Audit AML BSA by helping to lead and execute CNB BSA/AML and OFAC audits including through planning, execution, reporting and issue remediation.

Assisting with the development of audit budget estimates for the area of focus.

Assisting with the development of the annual risk assessment and audit plan.

Leading and performing continuous monitoring activities periodically for the assigned area.

Maintaining ongoing relationships with management of auditable units.

Keeping informed of new services, products and events that have a significant business and technology impact.

Keeping abreast of changes in the business, regulatory and control environments in which City National Bank operates, especially for audit areas assigned.

Tracking and managing audit resources to meet audit budget and audit plan mandates.

Supporting a high‑performance environment and implementing a people strategy that attracts, retains, develops and motivates the team for continuous learning and improvement by fostering an inclusive work environment, communicating vision and strategy, coaching and supporting development goals.

Complying fully with all Bank policies and procedures as well as all regulatory requirements (e.g. Bank Secrecy Act, Know Your Client, Community Reinvestment Act, Fair Lending Practices, Code of Conduct, etc.).

What You’ll Need to Succeed Required Qualifications

Bachelor's Degree or equivalent.

Minimum 7+ years of audit experience in an internal audit role within the banking or financial services industry, or with a public accounting firm.

Minimum 3 years’ experience managing direct reports and demonstrated ability to develop people.

Additional Qualifications

CPA or CIA preferred; other certifications (e.g., CRMA, CFA, CFE, CAMS, Chartered Accountant) are favorable.

A thorough understanding of regulatory and compliance policies and procedures.

Expert understanding of internal audit methodology and principles.

Resourceful, self‑starter, highly flexible, creatively thinking and confident in executing innovative solutions.

Well-developed judgment, management, decision‑making and problem‑solving skills to effectively deal with a rapidly changing, complex business environment.

Good time‑management skills to manage multi‑functional accountabilities through prioritization, delegation, motivation, conflict resolution and promotion of ideas.

Excellent written communication skills; skilled at verbal presentation suitable for direct exposure to executive management.

Compensation Starting base salary: $99,000 – $176,000 per year. Exact compensation may vary based on skills, experience and location. This job is eligible for bonus and/or commissions.
