As the Mechanical Engineer, you will design, develop, and test all aspects of mechanical components, equipment, and machinery. You will apply knowledge of engineering principles to design products such as engines, instruments, controls, robots, machines, and other mechanical devices. This role involves the creation of technical drawings, ensuring the functionality and safety of products, conducting tests and assessments, and collaborating with other engineering disciplines to achieve project goals. Strong problem‑solving skills, proficiency in CAD software, and a thorough understanding of materials and manufacturing processes are essential.

Responsibilities and Duties

Design and Development

Create detailed mechanical designs for products, components, and systems using CAD software.

Develop and test prototypes to evaluate design feasibility and performance.

Analysis and Problem‑Solving

Analyze mechanical systems, components, and processes to identify and resolve design and operational issues.

Use computational tools and simulations to optimize designs.

Testing & Validation

Conduct experiments and tests to validate designs, ensure product reliability, and meet safety and regulatory standards.

Document test results and make necessary design adjustments.

Project Management

Plan and manage engineering projects from conception through production.

Coordinate with other departments, suppliers, and clients to ensure project milestones and deliverables are met on time and within budget.

Documentation and Reporting

Prepare and maintain comprehensive technical documentation, including design specifications, user manuals, and reports.

Communicate findings and progress to stakeholders.

Collaboration

Work closely with cross‑functional teams, including electrical engineers, software engineers, and manufacturing teams.

Participate in design reviews and provide technical support during production.

Quality Assurance

Ensure that designs and products meet quality and performance standards.

Implement quality control processes and participate in continuous improvement initiatives.

Innovation

Stay updated with the latest advancements in mechanical engineering technology and industry trends.

Explore and implement innovative solutions to improve product design and functionality.

Safety and Compliance

Ensure all designs comply with industry standards, regulatory requirements, and safety guidelines.

Conduct risk assessments and implement safety measures in product designs.

Maintenance and Support

Provide technical support for existing products, troubleshoot issues, and recommend modifications or upgrades to improve performance and reliability.

Qualifications, Skills & Attributes

Education

Bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering (required).

Graduation from a program accredited by the Accreditation Board for Engineering and Technology (ABET) is preferred.

Practical experience gained through internships or cooperative education programs is highly valuable.

Master’s degree in mechanical engineering is preferred.

Experience

At least 35 years of experience and a solid understanding of mechanical engineering principles and practical experience in the field of mechanical engineering.

Technical Skills

Proficiency in CAD software such as AutoCAD, SolidWorks, or CATIA.

Strong grasp of core mechanical engineering concepts, including thermodynamics, fluid mechanics, and materials science.

Problem‑solving skills using engineering principles and creativity.

Knowledge of manufacturing processes: CNC machining, welding, 3D printing, etc.

Experience with simulation software like ANSYS, MATLAB, Simulink for testing and optimization.

Project management ability to handle multiple projects and meet deadlines.
