Responsibilities
Identify, suggest and implement efficient billing processes to manage complex billing requirements.
Serve as the primary liaison for attorneys, staff, and clients to resolve escalated billing issues and discrepancies promptly.
Lead and optimize electronic billing operations, leveraging advanced knowledge of eBilling platforms such as EBillingHub, Legal Tracker, CounselLink, and similar systems.
Monitor and analyze eBilling performance, including audits, compliance checks, and progress reporting, to identify trends and implement improvements.
Maintain and govern client billing profiles, ensuring accuracy of rates, formats, and special requirements while enforcing firm-wide standards.
Develop and deliver billing analytics and reports for leadership and client stakeholders, providing insights for financial planning and decision-making.
Ensure strict compliance with outside counsel guidelines and engagement terms, proactively addressing risks and exceptions.
Respond to high-level client inquiries and provide strategic guidance on billing policies and best practices.
Mentor and train junior billing staff, fostering expertise in billing systems, compliance, and client service excellence.
Train and mentor client billing specialists.
Contribute to process improvement initiatives.
Assist with month-end and year-end closing procedures related to billing.
Special projects and other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
Minimum of 5 years of legal billing experience, preferably in a law firm or corporate legal department.
3E Billing Software experience required.
Strong knowledge of legal billing systems and eBilling platforms.
Strong attention to detail and organizational skills.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
Proficiency in Microsoft Office, especially Excel.
Compensation & Benefits
Salary range: $60,000 - $75,000 in Minneapolis, MN.
