Department Enterprise Infrastructure Systems

Job Duties The Systems Administrator III is a senior‑level technical role responsible for the design, implementation, and maintenance of the University’s mission‑critical server infrastructure. This role ensures the stability, security, and performance of both on‑premises (VMware/Hyper‑V) and cloud‑based (Azure) environments. As a senior member of the UITS team, the Systems Administrator III provides advanced technical support, leads infrastructure projects, and mentors junior staff to maintain a high standard of service delivery. This position may perform other duties as assigned and will require participation in on‑call rotation for occasional after‑hours support for system maintenance or emergencies.

Regular, reliable, and non‑disruptive attendance is an essential job duty, as is the ability to create and maintain collegial, harmonious working relationships with others.

Qualifications Minimum Qualifications:

Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field

At least eight years of progressive experience in systems administration within an enterprise environment

Preferred Qualifications:

Master’s degree in a technical or management field

VMware Certified Professional (VCP)

Microsoft Certified: Azure Administrator Associate

Certified in CompTIA Linux+ or RHCSA

Certified in CompTIA Server+

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:

Proven expertise in managing heterogeneous environments (Windows/Linux) and a strong understanding of networking fundamentals (TCP/IP, DNS, DHCP)

Experience leading technical projects and the ability to communicate complex technical concepts to non‑technical stakeholders

Ability to create and maintain collegial, harmonious, and professional relationships with team members and university faculty/staff
