Job Summary This residency position involves both learning as well as treating patients. The Physical Therapist Resident will provide direct patient care while adhering to the policies and procedures of UKHC and in accordance with state and federal regulations.
This position will perform physical therapy evaluations and render physical therapy treatments following a physician’s order; treat patients with a variety of diagnoses; and perform appropriate documentation in the medical record.
This position will be for a one‑year residency term. Once a 12‑month residency has been completed, the program will conclude. New graduates are welcome to apply. Applicants must also have applied for the position through APTA PTCAS.
Responsibilities
Perform physical therapy evaluations and render treatments following physician orders.
Treat patients with a variety of diagnoses.
Maintain accurate, timely documentation in the medical record.
Adhere to UKHC policies, procedures, and all applicable state and federal regulations.
Learn, apply, and refine sports medicine and manual therapy techniques in a clinical setting.
Qualifications & Requirements
Bachelor’s Degree in Physical Therapy (preferred); BS in any field acceptable with entry to PT program.
Kentucky licensure in Physical Therapy preferred; certification eligible.
New graduates are welcome (applied through APTA PTCAS).
Strong communication, organizational, and critical‑thinking skills.
Basic computer and internet navigation skills.
Physical Requirements & Shift The physical requirements of this position include: regularly lifting, pushing, and/or pulling objects 50 lb and above; occasionally sitting at a computer workstation for extended periods with repetitive motions (such as typing); regular risk of back injury from moving, lifting, or positioning patients, equipment, or materials; regular exposure to blood‑borne and airborne pathogens; and occasional exposure to combative/violent individuals.
