Radiologic Technologist

Shift Schedule: Days (may vary). Days: Primarily Tuesday and Wednesday, may include some Fridays. Shift Differential: $2.25 per hour.
Salary: $28.03 – $38.75 per hour, depending on experience.
Status: Part-time, no benefits.
Education: Associate or Bachelor’s Degree from an ARRT approved/accredited program in Radiologic Technology.
Certificates/License: Valid, current State of Iowa Permit to Practice and ARRT registration in Radiologic Technology. Current BCLS certification.
Experience: Hospital based experience preferred.
Position Summary Operates radiologic equipment to produce radiographs of the human body for diagnostic purposes, as directed by the Radiologist. Moves equipment, adjusts exposure factors, explains procedures, monitors accessories, assists with special radiographic procedures, and serves as a super user for radiology initiatives.
Duties Include
Demonstrates knowledge and skills necessary to assist in providing care appropriate to the age of the patient served (neonate to geriatric).
Maintain performance in compliance with State and Federal laws, consistent with high standards of business and professional ethics. Follow hospital and department policies and procedures.
Practice ALARA techniques to minimize radiation to patient and staff, and practice good quality control.
Able to perform all types of CT exams proficiently.
Use contrast power injector.
Charge imaging procedures, can modify orders.
Understand and use PACS systems.
Coordinate patient flow for work area or shift.
Provide education and training to affiliated radiology technology student programs.
Assist with patient transportation as necessary.
Maintain effective communication with all levels of supervision and staff.
Participate in staff meetings and in-service training as required. Willing and able to take extra shifts, including night, holidays, and weekends. Will work 1 or 2 assigned holidays (8‑hour shifts).
Typical Physical Demands Requires ability to move about the facility while caring for patients and moving equipment. Must bend to the floor and reach overhead, balance, climb, lift, push, pull, walk, stand, crouch, twist and turn while obtaining equipment and supplies or assisting in patient care. Requires adequate visual and auditory acuity for reporting and understanding alarms, telephone communication, and reading printed information.
