Experience Consultant (West Coast, USA)
The Experience Consultant will join Charcoalblue’s growing Experience (CBX) team, delivering expert design and project guidance for events, collaborative and executive‑briefing spaces across a variety of building types.
Key Responsibilities
Provide subject‑matter expertise and design guidance for Events and Experiences spaces.
Ensure architectural design of Event, Collaboration, and Executive Briefing venues, activations, and support spaces are optimized for guest and user experience.
Develop client requirements documentation and produce briefs for the architectural design team.
Conduct and present user‑journey studies and wider strategic visioning studies.
Deliver progress reports and presentations to key stakeholders, ensuring clear communication of requirements, project aims, and design intent.
Act as a primary point of contact for client stakeholder teams, project managers, and design teams to ensure accurate and timely communication.
Collaborate within the wider CBX team to develop design standards and guidance as needed.
Participate in Design Team and project meetings, providing subject‑matter expert advice with an understanding of schedule and cost considerations.
Represent Charcoalblue professionally and act as an ambassador for the firm.
Elevate collaboration and communication with clients, brainstorming innovative approaches across a portfolio of spaces.

Essential Qualifications
Minimum five (5) years of professional experience in event management and operations or in the design and construction of performing‑arts, events, executive briefing centers, experiential design, or hospitality & leisure spaces.
Ability to read construction drawings and specifications, with a professional interest in construction projects.
A passion for storytelling through exceptional experiences.
Desirable Qualifications
Minimum three (3) years of relevant experience in design management or client representation of events or experiential spaces.
Formal qualification/degree in architecture, interior design, venue design, or a related field.
Strong visual, written, and verbal communication skills; ability to think outside the box.
Understanding of AIA design stages and typical information requirements at each stage.
Experience synthesizing complex information into concise, visually compelling presentations.
Experience in experiential design, executive briefing programs, theatre, or performing‑arts event space buildings.
Proven leadership, vision, and strategic skills for prioritizing initiatives.
Knowledge of permitting/building‑control processes, construction terminology, and building systems.
Track record of steering decision‑making and process.
Imaginative problem‑solving and collaborative approach.
Interpersonal Skills
Self‑motivated with high initiative; able to manage multiple projects simultaneously.
Outstanding verbal and written communication.
Detail oriented and able to plan and execute without direct supervision.
Open, curious design sensibility; calm under pressure.
Flexible and adaptable to changing business needs.
Build relationships with colleagues, clients, vendors, stakeholders, and management.
Additional Information
Candidates must attend daily meetings during Pacific Time hours.
Regular travel to client offices in the San Francisco Bay Area is required.
Ideal candidates are located in Los Angeles, San Francisco, or elsewhere on the West Coast of the United States.
