Summary The Inpatient Staff Physical Therapist will have the education, knowledge and skill to provide in-patient services focusing on functional skills to enhance development, restore function and to prevent disability from pediatric conditions, illness and injury. Evaluation, treatment and home programming are provided for children with: burns and wounds, orthopedic injuries, brain injuries and neurological impairments, hematology and oncology disorders, musculoskeletal injuries or disorders, neuromuscular disorders, gross motor delays, and cardiopulmonary disorders. Also includes evaluations for wheelchairs, walkers and other assistive devices. The PT will provide therapy services for chronically ill patients admitted to hospital for lengthy stays, as well as see additional outpatients for burn and wound care. The position shall include patient and caregiver education and consultation to other medical professionals, clinics and agencies, both within Cook Children's Health Care System and within the community. Documentation and correspondence pertaining to these services shall follow department and system policies.
Qualifications
Master's Degree or equivalent experiences
Pediatric and/or Developmental experience preferred
State license for Physical Therapy or eligible for licensure
BLS certification within 30 days of employment required
Flexible hours/shifts to accommodate before and after school hours
