Salary Range:
$30.73 - $44.18 per hour

Job Summary The Radiologic Technologist demonstrates comprehensive knowledge of General Diagnostic Radiology and adheres to all departmental protocols, policies, and procedures of the UNC Healthcare System. This role requires maintaining active ARRT RT(R) credentials, utilizing technical expertise to troubleshoot equipment and protocol issues, and actively sharing knowledge with staff and students. The technologist is committed to high-quality imaging, patient safety, and effective collaboration within the work unit.
Job Responsibilities
Verify patient demographics, examination orders, and emulsion markers for accuracy
Perform, critique, orient, and save diagnostic radiographic images
QA, transmit, and ensure all images are successfully sent to PACS
Document exam completion or cancellation in RIS, including appropriate comments
Utilize RIS, CIS, PACS, HIS, and SMS systems to access patient data and document procedures
Modify and verify orders for appropriateness and accuracy
Review daily schedules and manage workflow efficiently
Maintain image management equipment and report malfunctions to appropriate resources
Produce high-quality diagnostic images consistently and in a timely manner
Maintain a clean, safe work environment and document incidents
Verify patient identity and obtain relevant clinical history
Assess patient condition and determine need for additional staff or equipment
Assist patients requiring extra care and respond appropriately to emergency situations
Ensure patient safety at all times and communicate improvement opportunities to supervisors
Education
Accredited Associate’s Degree or completion of an accredited Radiologic Sciences Program
Certifications & Licensure
Requires advanced certification in CT within one year of employment.
ARRT Certification in Radiography (RT(R))
Must maintain active registry status and annual continuing education requirements
Basic Life Support (BLS) for Healthcare Providers
