Job Summary The Radiologic Technologist performs high-quality general diagnostic radiology procedures while adhering to UNC Health departmental protocols, policies, and safety standards. This role involves accurate image acquisition, patient care, PACS/RIS documentation, equipment maintenance, and collaboration with healthcare staff to ensure optimal patient outcomes.
Key Responsibilities
Perform general diagnostic radiology exams with accuracy and efficiency.
Verify patient identity, exam orders, demographics, and pregnancy status prior to imaging.
Obtain relevant patient history and assess patient condition to determine appropriate imaging approach.
Produce, critique, QC, and transmit images to PACS; ensure proper documentation in RIS.
Maintain and troubleshoot imaging equipment; report issues to appropriate resources.
Ensure patient safety, respond to emergency situations, and assist patients requiring special care.
Maintain a clean, safe work environment and document incidents or improvement opportunities.
Collaborate with staff and share knowledge with coworkers and students as appropriate.
Required Skills & Experience
No prior experience required.
Education Requirements
Associate's Degree from an accredited Radiologic Sciences program (or equivalent).
Required Certifications
ARRT Certification in Radiography (RT[R])
Active registry status with ongoing continuing education
BLS (Basic Life Support) for Healthcare Providers
