Overview Airgas USA, LLC is seeking a dedicated and safety-conscious Class A Local Driver to transport compressed gases and welding supplies to customers within a defined local service area. This role is crucial for ensuring timely deliveries and maintaining strong customer relationships. Location: Santa Fe Springs, CA - Dice Rd - Filling industrial.
Job Responsibilities
Operate a Class A commercial motor vehicle safely and efficiently to deliver and pick up products (cylinders and bulk items) to and from customer sites.
Perform pre-trip and post-trip inspections on assigned vehicles and complete all required Department of Transportation (DOT) documentation accurately.
Secure loads properly to prevent shifting or damage during transit, adhering to all safety regulations and company policies.
Interact professionally with customers, ensuring accurate order fulfillment and addressing any immediate concerns.
Complete all necessary delivery paperwork, including manifests, invoices, and proof of delivery, with attention to detail.
Adhere to all federal, state, and local regulations, as well as company policies and procedures regarding transportation and handling of hazardous materials.
Maintain a clean and organized vehicle, reporting any maintenance issues promptly to management.
Participate in all safety meetings and training programs as required.
May be required to assist with loading and unloading products using appropriate equipment.
Job Qualifications
Education:
High School Diploma or equivalent required.
License:
Valid Class A Commercial Driver's License (CDL) with Hazmat and Air Brake endorsements. Tanker endorsement may be required based on location and specific product lines.
Experience:
Minimum of one (1) year of verifiable Class A driving experience, preferably with experience transporting hazardous materials.
Clean Driving Record:
Must have a clean motor vehicle record (MVR) with no disqualifying violations.
Physical Requirements:
Ability to lift and move cylinders and packages weighing up to 75 pounds frequently, and occasionally move heavier items with assistance. Ability to sit for extended periods, bend, stoop, climb, and reach. Must be able to pass a DOT physical and drug screen.
Safety Focus:
Strong commitment to safety and adherence to all DOT regulations and company safety policies.
Customer Service:
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills with a strong customer service orientation.
Work Ethic:
Reliable, punctual, and able to work independently with minimal supervision.
Schedule:
Ability to work flexible hours, including early mornings and occasional Saturdays, as business needs dictate.
