Qualifications Education

High School Diploma or Equivalent Required.

Associate degree in Business Administration, Criminal Justice, Law Enforcement, Security, or a closely related field Preferred.

Experience

2 Years of Security or Law Enforcement Experience Preferred.

2 Years of Healthcare or Education Experience Preferred.

Certifications and Licenses

DL – Driver’s License Class C, insurable, required upon hire.

ACPI – Advanced Crisis Prevention Intervention Training, required annually, 30 days.

Peace Officer license, required upon hire.

Skills

Must complete a personal history statement and psychological evaluation. May be subject to further written and/or oral pre‑assignment test or training.

Must be able to follow, practice and utilize the Peace Officer Weapons Standard and Qualification General Order to ensure the safety of officers, hospital staff, patients, and visitors.

Must demonstrate a working knowledge of customer‑based Peace Officer management techniques.

Must interact with the public and fellow employees in a tactful and diplomatic manner.

Must make sound judgments and be able to testify in court to present case facts.

Must complete a physical exam and drug screen in accordance with TCOLE regulations; existing officers with a 180‑day service break require only a drug screen.

Must possess the ability to physically defend and/or restrain people.

Must possess strong verbal communication skills in English, both in person and over the phone.

Must interact effectively with peers, executive and medical staff, department heads, patients/families, vendors, and other customers in a manner that represents Texas Health Resources positively.

Must write clear, concise, detailed incident reports and various other reports as required.

Must investigate, analyze, and resolve non‑routine issues and problems.

Must maintain reliable, punctual attendance.

Must learn and apply new information, knowledge, and experiences in a timely manner.

Must work with special protective equipment, training, and adhere to prescribed rules and procedures.

Must use a computer and electronic equipment effectively.

Must maintain high levels of alertness, attention to detail, visual and mental concentration.

Must have precise hand‑eye coordination, fine motor dexterity, and the ability to observe and react quickly to changing situations.

Must continuously stand, walk, or move around the workplace.

Must be willing and able to travel to other Texas Health Resources locations, external offices, and outpatient clinics as needed.

What You Will Do

Patrol buildings and grounds for unlocked secured areas for after‑hour entry.

Lock and open doors according to schedules.

Provide individual and group escorts to and from parking areas.

Identify and remove unauthorized individuals from property.

Enforce campus parking policies and cite violations.

Maintain compliance with Security policies.

Pursue and detain persons involved in criminal activity.

Fill out incident/offense report forms and compose narratives.

Give directions to areas of the facility.

Interact with police, fire personnel, patients, visitors, and staff.

Provide vehicle assistance.

Patrol interior/perimeter of campus and parking.

Complete reports by recording observations, information, occurrences, and surveillance activities.

Report and escalate situations to the Threat Management team as appropriate.

Provide quality customer service to Texas Health employees, visitors, and guests.

Greet people with courtesy and respect using the 10/5 rule.

Assist employees, visitors, and guests with directions and other requests.

Provide general information regarding Texas Health campuses.

Transport and escort individuals to and from campus parking lots.

Respond promptly to calls for service and emergency situations.

Assess situations and utilize appropriate de‑escalation measures.

Utilize critical thinking skills and provide the appropriate level of force for the situation.

Respond to and activate the appropriate emergency response code.

Interact with and provide assistance to Police, Fire, EMS, and other emergency staff as required.
