Qualifications Education

High School Diploma or Equivalent (Required)

Associate degree in Business Administration, Criminal Justice, Law Enforcement, Security or a closely related field (Preferred)

Experience

2 Years in Security or law enforcement (Preferred)

2 Years in Healthcare or education (Preferred)

Certifications and Licenses

Driver's License Class C and insurable Upon Hire (Required)

Advanced Crisis Prevention Intervention Training (ACPI), maintained annually 30 days (Required)

Peace Officer license Upon Hire (Required)

Skills

Complete a personal history statement and psychological evaluation.

May be subject to further written and/or oral pre‑assignment test/training.

Follow practice and utilize the Peace Officer Weapons Standard and Qualification General Order to ensure safety of officers, hospital staff, patients and visitors.

Demonstrate working knowledge of customer‑based Peace Officer management techniques.

Deal with the public and fellow employees in a tactful and diplomatic manner.

Make sound judgments and testify in court to present case facts.

Physically defend and/or restrain people.

Communicate with others in a clear, understandable and professional manner on the phone and in person using the English language and good verbal communication skills.

Interact effectively with peers, executive and medical staff, department heads and staff in other departments, patients/families, vendors and other customers to represent Texas Health Resources positively.

Write clear, concise and detailed incident reports and other reports as required.

Investigate, analyze and resolve non‑routine issues and problems.

Maintain regular, reliable and punctual attendance.

Learn and apply new information, knowledge and experiences in a timely manner.

Undergo special protective equipment training and adhere to prescribed rules and procedures.

Use a computer and electronic equipment.

Maintain high levels of alertness and attention to detail.

Observe and rapidly react to changing situations and operations.

Possess precise hand‑eye coordination and fine motor dexterity.

Continuously stand, walk or move around the workplace.

Travel to other Texas Health Resources locations, external offices and outpatient clinics as needed.

What You Will Do

Patrol buildings and ground for unlocked secured areas for after‑hour entry.

Lock and open doors according to schedules.

Provide individual and group escorts to and from parking areas.

Identify and remove unauthorized individuals from property.

Enforce campus parking policies/cite violations.

Maintain compliance with Security policies.

Pursue and detain persons involved in criminal activity.

Fill out incident/offense report forms and compose narratives.

Give directions to areas of the facility.

Interact with police, fire personnel, patients, visitors and staff.

Provide vehicle assistance.

Patrol interior/perimeter of campus and parking.

Complete reports by recording observations, information, occurrences and surveillance activities.

Report and escalate situations to the Threat Management team as appropriate.

Provide quality customer service to Texas Health employees, visitors and guests.

Greet people with courtesy and respect using the 10/5 rule.

Assist employees, visitors and guests with directions and general information regarding Texas Health campuses.

Provide transport and escorts to and from campus parking lots.

Respond promptly to calls for service and emergency situations.

Assess the situation and utilize appropriate de‑escalation measures.

Utilize critical thinking skills and provide the appropriate level of force for the situation.

Respond to and activate the appropriate emergency response code.

Interact with and provide assistance to Police, Fire, EMS and other emergency staff as required.
