When the head chef is absent, supervise daily kitchen operations and ensure food is prepared according to specifications. Oversee kitchen stock, ingredients and the first‑in, first‑out food rotation system. Keep cooking stations stocked before and during peak operation hours. Hire and train new kitchen employees to standards. Manage food and product ordering with detailed records to minimize waste. Supervise all food preparation to ensure standards and collaborate with the head chef to maintain kitchen organization. SPECIFIC JOB KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & ABILITIES
Must be able to read, write and speak English and effectively communicate with team members and guests. Must adhere to all health and safety standards in the kitchen. Must safely use kitchen equipment and utensils that require focus and skill. Must maintain a neat and professional appearance at all times. Must be available to work flexible days and shifts, including holidays. Must work without constant supervision. PHYSICAL DEMANDS
Stand on hard surfaces and remain exposed to warm temperatures for long periods. Use arms, hands and legs repetitively; handle and feel various food products and use kitchen equipment. Carry and lift items exceeding 25 pounds without assistance. Use close and distant vision, hearing and sense of smell and taste. QUALIFICATION STANDARDS
High School Diploma or equivalent is required. Two or more years’ experience in a similar role. Excellent customer service, interpersonal and communication skills. Food Handler’s Certificate within 30 days of hire. ServSafe certification within 30 days (if not certified). Ability to lead and motivate a team. BENEFITS
