This role is a full-time line cook position in Rockville, MD. The pay range is $19.53/hr to $22.62/hr, based on skills and experience.

Base Pay Range $19.53/hr - $22.62/hr

Shift and Benefits Shift: 11am-7:30pm or 6am-2:30pm, flexible position.

Job Summary This position is primarily responsible for preparing cold and hot meals using production estimates listed on the production sheet. Additional duties include assisting the Sous Chef or Chef in the cold production of food items for the Nursing Center meals following standardized recipes.

Job Requirements High school diploma or general education degree (GED). Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions, possess high‑quality verbal and written communication ability, and be proficient in the operation of kitchen machinery and basic cooking utensils.

Key Responsibilities – Food Production

Prepare food for residents and visitors for each meal period throughout the day.

Ensure all food complies with state and federal health regulations.

Follow all standardized recipes set by the Chef for breakfast and lunch meals.

Maintain high standards of quality food production and portion control.

Obtain and maintain a current ServSafe certification.

Adhere to sanitation and safe food handling standards according to ServSafe, health department regulations, and company policies.

Thaw, pre‑meal preparation, prep, and store all food items in accordance with ServSafe and regulations.

Follow menus provided by the Chef and propose changes only with the consent of the Sous Chef or Chef; log changes.

Prepare all meals at the proper time and with quality to meet service requirements.

Check temperatures of all food prior to meal time to ensure compliance.

Maintain proper sanitation and safety in the food preparation areas.

Utilize leftover foods as directed by the Chef for another meal period; store leftovers properly.

Cleaning and Sanitation

Cleans and sanitizes all food preparation and production areas in compliance with regulations.

Cleans cooking areas and kitchen equipment at the beginning and end of each meal period, recording duties in a daily log book.

Washes and cleans all utensils and equipment used for each meal period; utilizes help of Utility Aid as appropriate.

Conducts daily checks of refrigerators and freezers to ensure food is properly stored and labeled, and cleans surfaces.

Checks all kitchen machinery for proper working order; reports repairs or maintenance needed.

Reports all cleaning and sanitation concerns prompt to the Chef or Director of Dining Services.
