Job Summary We are seeking a talented, innovative, and experienced Executive Chef to join our culinary team. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in African cuisine, with a preference for West African or Nigerian specialties. This individual will lead recipe development, kitchen operations, and culinary execution across both our fresh and packaged food lines.
Key Responsibilities
Prepare, cook, and present high‑quality dishes that reflect both traditional and contemporary African flavors.
Develop, refine, and standardize recipes in collaboration with the Afromeals team to ensure authenticity, consistency, and exceptional taste.
Oversee daily kitchen operations including inventory, ordering, food safety, equipment maintenance, and quality control.
Assist in the creation and testing of packaged food products such as frozen meals, spice blends, sauces, and ready‑to‑eat items.
Train, supervise, and support kitchen assistants, prep cooks, or production staff as needed.
Ensure strict compliance with local, state, and federal health and safety regulations.
Collaborate with the marketing team for food styling, product photography, cooking videos, and brand‑aligned presentations.
Support special events, demos, and cooking classes when required.
Requirements
Proven experience as a Chef or Cook, preferably with expertise in African cuisine (West African or Nigerian strongly preferred).
Strong knowledge of African ingredients, flavor profiles, and cooking techniques.
Understanding of food safety standards and kitchen hygiene practices.
Ability to lead independently while also working effectively within a team.
Excellent organizational, multitasking, and time‑management skills.
Culinary degree or relevant certifications (preferred but not required).
Legal authorization to work in the United States.
Preferred Skills
Experience developing ready‑to‑eat, frozen, or packaged food products.
Creativity in blending traditional African dishes with modern culinary techniques.
Strong knife skills and exceptional attention to detail in plating and presentation.
Ability to scale recipes for batch production and manufacturing.
