Position Summary
The La Vega Independent School District is seeking a qualified, highly motivated Police Officer to provide a safe and secure environment for students, staff, and visitors across all district facilities and events. This role requires a proactive, community-based policing approach within an educational setting. Preferred Qualifications
Experience in school-based law enforcement or patrol experience Training in crisis intervention, de-escalation, or school safety Familiarity with multi-hazard emergency operations plans Strong communication and interpersonal skills Duties and Responsibilities
Maintain a visible law enforcement presence on assigned campuses Protect the safety and welfare of students, staff, and visitors Respond to emergencies, criminal activity, and disciplinary incidents Enforce federal, state, and local laws, as well as district policies Assist in emergency drills and campus safety planning Collaborate with administrators, counselors, and teachers to support a safe learning environment Participate in threat assessment team and safety committee efforts Provide mentoring and educational support to students when appropriate Prepare reports and maintain accurate documentation Assist with traffic control and security during arrival, dismissal, and events Compensation & Benefits

Must hold a current Texas Peace Officer License issued by TCOLE Must be eligible to work in the State of Texas Must meet all requirements of Texas Education Code 37.081 and 37.0814 High school diploma or GED required (college coursework preferred) Valid Texas Driver’s License Ability to pass a criminal background check, psychological evaluation, physical agility test, and drug screening Must live within McLennan County or be willing to relocate within the county Salary Range
$27.12/hour to $38.19/hour, 226 days per year, 8 hours per day Benefits
