Job Title Fleet Maintenance Assistant

Location Dickinson ND

FLSA Status Non‑Exempt, Hourly

Schedule Mon-Fri, with the occasional weekend due to truck maintenance, operations requests, etc. Daytime hours.

Job Summary Primary responsibility is to assist the Operations department with maintaining and repairs of all commercial fleet vehicles and facility equipment.

Perform fleet vehicle maintenance as requested

Assist with ensuring all DOT vehicles are in compliance with DOT regulations

Assist with facility pumps and systems maintenance

Maintain an effective and organized work space

Assist with cleaning the shop

Safe operation and maintenance of all equipment and tools

Follows proper hazardous waste disposal procedures

Responsible for following Health, Safety, and Environmental procedures in the shop

Special projects as needed

Other Qualifications Education/Experience: High school diploma or GED. Strong understanding of pneumatics, hydraulics, and mechanics preferred.

Certifications/Licenses: Forklift certification preferred. CDL beneficial but not required.

Driving Requirements: Follow all FMCSA and DOT regulations, where applicable. May be required to drive light duty vehicle for parts.

Physical Requirements – Lift, push, pull, and carry up to 55 pounds chest high. Tip and move 55‑gallon drums, weighing up to 600 pounds with the use of equipment and/or vehicles. Must be able to reach, push, pull, and grasp with arms and hands. Will require fine motor skills and daily standing, crouching and/or kneeling, sitting, walking, driving, climbing, and transitioning in/out of vehicles. Must be able to talk, hear, and feel attributes of objects or temperatures by touching with the skin. Required to have the visual acuity to safely and legally operate motor vehicles, close vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus.

Work Environment – Indoors and outdoors, with some exposure to environmental conditions such as extreme winter weather, precipitation, and wind. Includes potential exposure to harmful chemicals, dust, odors, fumes, oil, and gases. Noise level is typically moderate, occasionally loud.

Language Skills: Ability to read, interpret, and understand documents such as safety rules, safety data sheets (SDSs), operating instructions, and procedure manual. English language fluency in reading, writing, speaking, and comprehending.
