Education Specialist
The Education Specialist is responsible for assessing, planning, designing, providing, coordinating and evaluating educational programs for the personnel of St. Joseph's/Candler and its affiliates, physicians, health care professional community, home health and other participants in the network. Collaborative responsibilities are directed towards support of the mission, vision, strategic direction and operational needs of St. Joseph's/Candler.
Education Associates or Bachelors in Nursing or Bachelors of Science - Required
Masters in Nursing - Preferred
Experience 5 Years Clinical Experience - Required; Nursing Education experience - Preferred
License & Certification Professional License with State of Practice - Required
Basic Cardiac Life Support instructor and formal training in principles of continuous quality improvement - Preferred
Core Job Functions Designs, develops and evaluates educational curriculums incorporating accreditation standards and principles. Coordinates the delivery of orientation sessions that facilitate job responsivities for newly hired staff.
Schedules and coordinates classes, in-services, activities and meetings to include team building activities, coaching and consultation to support learning experiences, professional development and performance improvement. Serves as an expert resource to staff supporting department-focused activities for staff development. Provides leadership in conflict management and negotiation to address problems in the healthcare system.
Coordinates continuing medical education for the hospital system to include tracking, transcripts, budget, ACCME reporting, accreditation, and reaccreditation. Coordinates student tracking, scheduling of clinical rotations, school contracts, and liability insurance where appropriate.
Provides CPR classes, updates, and cards per American Heart Association Guidelines. Maintains class rosters and instructors per policy.
Documents and reports are processed to facilitate regulatory and system compliance, as applicable. Maintains electronic and paper documents per policy.
