Responsibilities Phase 1: Technical Sales & Customer Engagement

Serve as the primary point of contact for customer inquiries, orders and technical questions.

Provide detailed product information, specifications, and application guidance.

Prepare accurate and timely quotes, proposals and order confirmations.

Manage the full order cycle – from quote generation to delivery follow‑up.

Maintain and grow relationships with existing customers while supporting new business opportunities.

Technical Support & Application Guidance

Interpret customer requirements and recommend suitable products or solutions.

Read and work with technical drawings, specifications and material data.

Collaborate with engineering and production to confirm manufacturability, lead times and custom product options.

Provide troubleshooting assistance and after‑sales support.

Sales Growth & Business Development

Identify upselling and cross‑selling opportunities within existing accounts.

Support outbound prospecting and lead follow‑up.

Assist outside sales representatives with quotations and technical support.

Phase 2: Site Operations Leadership Transition

Shadow the current Site Manager to learn all aspects of site operations including production, scheduling, maintenance, quality and materials management.

Ensure production goals are met safely, on time and within budget.

Monitor and improve key performance metrics such as throughput, scrap rates, downtime and on‑time delivery.

Safety & Compliance

Maintain a strong safety culture by enforcing company policies and ensuring compliance with OSHA and environmental regulations.

Participate in safety training, inspections and incident investigations.

Continuous Improvement

Identify and implement process improvements to increase efficiency, reduce waste and enhance product quality.

Apply lean tools (5S, visual management, standard work) suitable for a small plant environment.

Support or lead small‑scale capital and improvement projects.

People Leadership

Begin managing small teams or projects to build leadership experience.

Partner with HR to recruit, train and retain skilled employees.

Promote teamwork, accountability and continuous learning.

Maintenance & Equipment Reliability

Learn to oversee preventive maintenance schedules and ensure equipment uptime.

Work closely with maintenance and engineering staff to troubleshoot and resolve equipment issues.

Financial & Planning Responsibilities

Support site budget management and cost control.

Collaborate with supply chain and procurement to ensure material availability and inventory accuracy.

Provide regular performance updates to senior leadership.

Qualifications Education & Experience

Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Manufacturing, Business, or a related field (or equivalent experience).

6+ years of experience in technical sales, customer service or operations within a manufacturing environment.

Familiarity with manufacturing processes, materials, or mechanical components preferred.

Experience using ERP and CRM systems.

Skills & Attributes

Strong technical aptitude and ability to learn manufacturing processes and product details.

Excellent communication and interpersonal skills – both verbal and written.

Leadership potential with a desire to grow into a site management role.

Strong problem‑solving, multitasking and organizational abilities.

Customer‑focused with a proactive, solutions‑oriented approach.

Proficient in Microsoft Office and production management tools.
