Role Description This is a full-time, on-site position based in Reno, NV, for a Certified Therapeutic Recreation Specialist. The role involves developing and implementing therapeutic recreation programs to improve patients' physical, emotional, and social well-being. Responsibilities include assessing patient needs, creating individualized treatment plans, leading group or individual activities, and working collaboratively with healthcare teams to optimize patient outcomes. The Specialist will also provide thorough documentation and reports to support patient care and progress.

Qualifications

Proficiency in developing and leading therapeutic recreation programs, with a strong understanding of recreation therapy principles.

Ability to assess patient needs, create treatment plans, and adapt activities to address various physical, emotional, and cognitive abilities.

Strong communication and interpersonal skills for working effectively with patients, families, and interdisciplinary healthcare teams.

Detail-oriented skills for proper documentation and maintaining accurate records of patient progress and outcomes.

Certification as a Certified Therapeutic Recreation Specialist (CTRS) or eligibility to obtain certification.

Bachelor’s degree in Therapeutic Recreation or a related field required; relevant experience in healthcare settings preferred.

Demonstrated empathy, cultural competence, and commitment to patient-centered care are highly valued.
