Overview The Patient Account Specialist is responsible for processing accounts that are in collections.
This position communicates with both Midwest Dental’s collections department and outside collection agencies to help resolve account issues.
The Patient Account Specialist will aid in the efficiency of the collections department and the insurance department as a whole.
The Patient Account Specialist shall be responsible for many areas including but not limited to the list of duties outlined below.
Schedule (days/hours) Monday through Friday

Monitor outstanding account balances for determination of next steps in the collection process
Correspond with patients to settle disputes and inquire and collect delinquent balances or make payment arrangements
Communicate both on the collections team and to outside collection agencies to resolve patient account issues
Process and review account adjustments and resolve patient account discrepancies
Post E-Payments
Process account write-offs and bad debt accounts
Prepare and mail collection final letters to patients and add markers on patient accounts
Process month end reports
Work reports (Cycle 4 AR report, Payment Arrangement report, & Collections Hold report)
Other duties as assigned by the manager (cross training may be provided as well)
Computer Proficiency Microsoft applications - Windows, Office, Outlook, Excel, Word
Use a fax machine, scanner, and calculator
Knowledge of basic accounting - credits/debits and balances
2+ years of customer service
2+ years of previous accounting, preferably in accounts receivable
Experience with bankruptcy law and the legal system
