EXAMINATION NOTICE
The Phoenixville Borough Civil Service Commission is seeking applicants to establish an eligibility list for the position of Police Officer (full‑time) in the Phoenixville Borough Police Department.
The borough of Phoenixville is a 3.5 square mile industrial‑era steel town located 30 miles west of Philadelphia in historic Chester County. The town of nearly 20,000 residents is situated near a number of colleges and universities and has a lively entertainment and dining district. Weekend visitors increase the number of downtown inhabitants significantly, as the borough hosts numerous street festivals and town‑center events.
Applications and forms required to be completed in order to apply for the position of Police Officer are available during regular business hours (Mon‑Fri, except holiday, 8 am‑12 pm and 1 pm‑3:30 pm) from the Human Resources Department, located on the second floor of Phoenixville Borough Hall, 351 Bridge Street Phoenixville, PA 19460, by mail, or by visiting the borough website at www.phoenixville.org. There is no application fee.
All applicants must meet the following eligibility requirements:
Diploma from an accredited high school or a graduate equivalency diploma.
United States citizen.
Meet all Civil Service requirements.
Be Pennsylvania Act 120 certified or currently attending a Pennsylvania Municipal Police Academy pursuing Act 120 certification at the time of application.
Conditional offers to candidates attending an in‑progress Pennsylvania Act 120 approved Police Academy will be contingent on graduation and proof of Act 120 certification from the Municipal Police Officers Education and Training Commission.
Reach the eighteenth (18th) birthday before the application deadline.
Reside within twenty‑five (25) miles of the perimeter of the Borough of Phoenixville at the time of hire or at a minimum upon completion of the hiring probationary period.

2026 Annual base salary of $120,430.54.

Application process: Applications must be received no later than 3:30 pm on Friday, January 16, 2026. A physical agility test will be held at Phoenixville Area High School (Washington Field and gymnasium) on Sunday, February 1, 2026 or Saturday, February 7, 2026 from 9:00 am‑11:00 am. Applicants who pass the agility test will take the written exam the same day from 1:00 pm‑3:00 pm in the cafeteria. The standards for successfully completing the physical agility are listed at https://mpoetc.psp.pa.gov/ using the fortieth percentile (40 %). Other mandatory components of the application process include an oral examination, a background investigation, polygraph, a medical examination, and a psychological examination.
All relevant rules and regulations are available for inspection during regular business hours at Phoenixville Borough Hall.
