Specification Sales Representative, Long Island – SLS Location: Long Island, New York, United States.

Salary: $80,000 – $100,000 annually, plus unlimited commission potential.

Role & Responsibilities

Secure lighting specifications by building relationships with specifiers and manufacturers.

Understand, learn, and stay current on lighting industry products and market trends.

Achieve annual and quarterly sales targets assigned by SLS.

Identify and generate new opportunities to build the SLS portfolio.

Present new products confidently, highlighting features and benefits to customers in the field.

Build strong internal relationships with project management, quotes and sales teams.

Determine customer product needs, aligning existing products with new products under development.

Target and contact key architects, engineers, lighting designers, etc., developing positive relationships to secure specifications and sales.

Regularly report on accomplishments and monitor key metrics, providing insight for improvement.

Maintain customer and prospect data, including contact status, commitments, meeting notes.

Qualifications

Required: Undergraduate degree in architecture, design, engineering or equivalent work experience in design, construction, or design sales.

Preferred experience 2–10 years in a relevant industry role.

Highly motivated, target driven with proven sales or project-related track record.

In-depth understanding of architectural lighting industry.

Strong public speaking, professional oral and written communication skills.

Strong organizational and time-management skills with ability to manage multiple priorities.

Demonstrates affinity for relationship building.
