Utility Worker

The Alderwood Water & Wastewater District (AWWD) is accepting applications for Utility Worker. The successful candidates will be appointed to the appropriate classification (I or II) dependent on their qualifications. Utility Workers maintain and operate the District's water distribution system, sewage collection system, meters, plants, and reservoirs. Essential duties include installing, servicing, and repairing water and sewer facilities; repairing water and sewer line leaks; flushing water systems; repairing curbs and sidewalks; installing valves and setting meters; and responding professionally and courteously to customer inquiries. This position is represented by WCCCE, Local No. 1811A, AFSCME, AFL-CIO. A valid Washington State Driver's license and acceptable driving record is required for all classification levels. The Alderwood Water & Wastewater District provides an array of employee benefits that we feel contribute to an overall desirable compensation package for employees. While employed with AWWD, you will participate in the Washington State PERS retirement program. Pay is dependent on experience and qualifications. Depending on qualifications the incumbent will be appointed to either Utility Worker I or Utility Worker II classification. The pay ranges for these positions are: Utility Worker I: $31.83 to $42.64 per hour. (starting range $31.83 to $36.85). Utility Worker II: $36.43 to $48.83 (starting range $36.43 to $42.18). After successful completion of probation, the selected candidate can work toward an internal promotion to Utility Worker II and then Senior Utility Worker. Direct Utility Worker experience may qualify for higher classification upon review and approval. Applications are accepted until filled.
