Description This position is ideal for mid- to senior-level trade compliance professionals to join the Global Trade Compliance (GTC) team as a
Senior Analyst, Trade Compliance and Sanction Screening, North America . Partnering with cross-functional teams, including Legal, Finance, Tax, Manufacturing, Logistics, IT, and Customs Affairs—as well as external partners, you will play a critical role in ensuring our trade operations comply with international trade regulations and standards. This role will be instrumental in mitigating trade risks, preventing violations of global trade laws, and supporting Align Technology’s continued global growth.
Role expectations
Support the Sr. Manager Global Trade Compliance, in managing import/export compliance across the U.S., Mexico, and Canada.
Serve as the primary point of contact with customs authorities and government agencies for audits, inquiries, and regulatory matters.
Prepare and submit responses to government requests or inquiries (e.g., CF-28s, CF-29, customs audits, SAT/CBSA inquiries), ensuring accuracy and legal protection.
Conduct internal compliance reviews and implement corrective actions as needed.
Deliver training on import/export regulations, procedures, and best practices.
Manage USMCA and other Free Trade Agreement (FTA) qualification processes and documentation.
Participate in global trade initiatives, including Duty Drawback, Customs Reconciliation, IMMEX Compliance, and First Sale for Export programs.
Administer the company’s Automated Commercial Environment (ACE) portal.
Audit shipping and customs documentation for accuracy in valuation, HS classification, and country-of-origin determination.
Serve as the primary contact for sanctions and export control compliance within assigned business units.
Monitor regulatory changes, enforcement actions, and industry practices related to sanctions and screening.
Manage daily screening activities in SAP GTS, including due diligence reviews, block resolutions, and ad hoc screening requests.
Escalate potential matches to Legal Compliance or outside counsel with clear initial assessments.
Coordinate second-level reviews with Legal Compliance teams.
Develop and deliver training on export controls, sanctions, and screening processes.
Maintain complete and compliant records of sanctions screening activities
Perform additional trade compliance tasks as assigned.
What we're looking for
Education:
Bachelor’s degree in Business, International Trade, Supply Chain, or a related field;
Experience:
6-10 years of experience in trade compliance, import/export operations, or customs, preferably in a multinational environment.
Skills:
Solid understanding of Title 15 (Commerce and Foreign Trade) and Title 19 (Customs Duties). Strong knowledge of USMCA compliance, tariff classification, COO rules, customs entry processes, export controls, OFAC, BIS, and global sanctions regimes.
Communication:
Excellent interpersonal and written communication skills.
Teamwork:
Ability to work both independently and collaboratively, managing multiple priorities and meeting tight deadlines
Advanced Excel skills; experience with SAP and/or SAP GTS strongly preferred.
Strong analytical skills with proven ability to interpret and implement regulations.
Ability to independently support projects from start to finish.
Strong presentation and training abilities.
Experience in delivering compliance training and supporting global initiatives.
Pay Transparency If provided, base salary or wage rate ranges are the range in which Align reasonably expects to set a candidate’s pay for the posted position. Actual placement depends on the individual skills and experience level of a candidate plus the total compensation and equity across team members. For other locations outside of the primary location, the base salary range will be adjusted geographically.
For Field Sales roles, the salary listed is the base pay only and does not include the applicable incentive compensation plan. A cost of living adjustment may be added to base pay for higher cost areas in the U.S.
