Legal Secretary Position

Our team is seeking a detail-oriented Legal Secretary to support two attorneys. This role is vital in ensuring the efficient operation of our legal office and delivering high-quality assistance for casework and administrative tasks. Key Responsibilities: Support two attorneys by maintaining and submitting timesheets accurately and on time (due every Friday, within 23 days). Prepare and process a variety of legal documents, including summons, subpoenas, complaints, appeals, motions, and pretrial agreements. Handle federal and California state court filingsboth manual and electronic. Format legal briefs, including creating tables of contents and tables of authorities. Draft and file pleadings; draft and serve discovery documents as requested. Manage the delivery (mail, fax, courier) of legal correspondence to clients, witnesses, and court officials. Answer and place telephone calls; schedule and coordinate appointments. Support office administration, including photocopying correspondence, documents, and other printed materials. Organize and maintain physical and electronic documents, and case files. Assist attorneys in collecting case-related information and performing preliminary research. Attend legal meetings, hearings, depositions, or client interviews; take detailed notes. Review legal publications and conduct database searches to identify relevant laws and court decisions for pending cases. Submit articles, case law, or search results to attorneys for review and possible use. Complete forms and applicationssuch as accident reports, trial and courtroom requests, and client documentation. Perform other office or case-related duties as assigned. Requirements: Prior experience as a Legal Secretary (supporting litigation preferred). Expertise in federal and California court procedures and filings. Proficiency with legal document formatting and drafting. Strong organizational, communication, and multitasking skills. Ability to work independently, maintain confidential information, and meet deadlines.
