Power Plant Operator I
Serves as assistant Operator at the Electrical Generating Plant. Under direct supervision will start and stop generating units; control, operate, and maintain auxiliary equipment. Under supervision will make adjustments and minor repairs to electrical motors, pumps, and other related equipment; reads meters and logs them; does yard work; keeps the Plant clean; fabrication as needed; helps other Departments as required. High School graduate or equivalent; some experience with machinery similar to Power Plant equipment; knowledge of basics of electricity preferred; basic knowledge of computers; be able to obtain Method 9 Opacity certification; must have an industrious attitude and be able to accept orders and carry them out. Valid Nebraska drivers license required. Wages are determined by employee pay scale. Full benefits within six months of hire date. Some unscheduled hours would be required in case of emergencies; required to be on call in a rotating schedule. Must reside within a fifteen-mile radius of the city limits of David City within six months. Position open until it is filled.
