Patient Account Specialist
Premier Medical Resources is looking for a Patient Account Specialist to join our team. The Patient Account Specialist is responsible for managing, monitoring, and contacting individuals with unresolved bills to collect payments under the supervision of the Billing Manager. Essential functions include maintaining confidentiality of medical records, answering billing office phone calls including requests for information and claim review, initiating contact to patients with past due balances, resolving outstanding claims and appealing any denied or unpaid claims, working with appropriate individuals to resolve discrepancies, processing and posting patient payments daily to ensure account balances correctly reflect the current balance due, researching and processing all refund requests within the insurance contractual obligations and state and federal laws, interpreting department policies and procedures to patients/family members as necessary, supporting the Account Recovery Specialist team, and performing other related duties as assigned. Knowledge, skills, and abilities include demonstrating critical thinking skills, ability to organize and resolve outstanding delinquencies, decision-making skills based on accurate information and/or analysis of data, strong communication skills and problem-solving skills, solid knowledge of medical terminology, technical job knowledge CPT codes, ICD-10 codes, and procedures, ability to adapt and work effectively in a fast-paced environment, and proficient use of Microsoft Office suite including Word, Outlook, and strong Excel skills. Education and experience include a high school diploma or GED and one (1) year of experience in billing collections in a hospital setting.
