Premier Medical Resources is looking for a Patient Account Specialist to join our team. The role focuses on managing and collecting unpaid medical bills under the supervision of the Billing Manager.
Essential Functions
Maintain confidentiality of medical records
Answer billing office phone calls including requests for information and claim review
Initiate contact with patients having past‑due balances
Resolve outstanding claims and appeal any denied or unpaid claims
Work with appropriate individuals to resolve discrepancies
Process and post patient payments daily to ensure account balances are current
Research and process all refund requests within insurance contractual obligations and state and federal laws
Interpret department policies and procedures for personnel, patients and family members
Support the Account Recovery Specialist team
Perform other related duties as assigned
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
Demonstrate critical thinking and organizational skills for resolving delinquencies
Make decisions based on accurate information and data analysis
Possess strong communication and problem‑solving skills
Have solid knowledge of medical terminology, CPT codes, ICD‑10 codes, and procedures
Adapt and work effectively in a fast‑paced environment
Proficient in Microsoft Office, especially Word, Outlook and Excel
Education and Experience
High School Diploma or GED
One (1) year of experience in billing collections in a hospital setting
