Temporary Assembly Operator III

This is a temporary position for an Assembly Operator III working directly with fiber optics. This position is responsible for optical connector assembly, termination of various configurations of fiber optic cable assemblies, and testing of these cable assemblies. This individual may assist in process development and resolution of problems encountered in the process of bringing new optical products from concept to market. The individual is a self-starter and has the ability to work well under schedule pressures and ability to balance workload as priorities change. Candidates will have a strong work ethic with a desire to continually learn & with a concentrated focus on serving the Customer. The ideal candidate works well in teams, has the desire to learn, possesses strong hand-eye coordination, and maintains the attention to detail needed to make quality products for our customers. Every team member is responsible for maintaining housekeeping and organization of the work area, following safety guidelines and all TE Connectivity's policies and procedures. Shifts Available: 1st:

Mon-Fri, 7am-3:30pm 2nd:

Mon-Fri, 3pm-11:30pm (10% Shift Differential) Weekend:

Fri-Sun, start on 6/13 - 7AM-7:30PM (22% Shift differential) Job Requirements: Polish and test fiber optic cables Assemble and package fiber optic connector components Terminate single and multi-fiber cables Operate fiber router & complete over-molding process (as needed) Support prototype product builds, test product builds, pre-release NPI builds (as needed) Measure components using calipers, gages, or other measuring devices Complete necessary operational paperwork required to maintain the traceability of product May troubleshoot and perform minor repairs to equipment Understand cleaning methods and contamination assessment for optical assembly Perform EFG & IPC (workmanship) checks on both single & multi-fiber termini Mechanical Aptitude to safely & efficiently operate equipment (E-Stop/Soft Stop) and identify issues Assist in the estimation process step durations Suggest process changes to improve overall manufacturing efficiencies Communicate within a team atmosphere to ensure clarity of purpose & Customer satisfaction After training period of 30 days, works with limited supervision to provide timely and quality products Inspect own work and products using quality standards, work instructions and prints Accountability - takes responsibility for his/her own work. Respects confidential information and concerns shared by others. Available to work overtime to support production goals as needed Ability to work in a clean room environment wearing all required clean room gowning garments and PPE (gowns, shoe booties, hair nets, nitrile gloves, safety glasses, safety shoes) What Your Background Should Look Like: High School diploma or GED preferred Minimum 1 year manufacturing experience required with knowledge and understanding of manufacturing principles such as Safety, Quality, Delivery, Inventory, and Productivity. Minimum 1 year experience in a fiber optic manufacturing environment preferred SAP Manufacturing & ISO 9001 experience is preferred. Proficient Hand-Eye Dexterity & Motor Skills for intricate/delicate work Working knowledge of hand tools and blueprint reading preferred Must be able to work with small parts in a clean room environment, using a microscope Available to work overtime to support production goals as needed. Must have good time management skills to work on numerous projects (sometimes simultaneously) Attention to Detail (following bill of material, job routers, and understanding drawings/prints) Team Oriented - will work effectively and cohesively with other employees to achieve required objectives and goals.
