This role ensures patients receive food as ordered, meal services are carried out properly, and trays are assembled correctly. The Nutrition Services Clerk assists in kitchen operations as necessary.
Responsibilities
Provide essential clerical duties related to nutritional care
Ensure patients receive food orders from Physician/Dietitian
Assemble food trays correctly and expeditiously
Assist in kitchen as needed
License or Certification
Food Handlers course as required by state or county
Education and Experience
High School diploma or equivalent
Minimum one-year experience as a Diet Clerk/Nutrition Services Clerk in an acute care facility preferred
Effective communication skills (written and verbal)
Equipment
General office equipment such as telephone, copy machine, fax machine, calculator, computer
Physical Requirements
Good visual acuity and communication
Ability to lift, push, pull or retrieve up to 50 pounds; safely lift up to 50 pounds; push/pull objects up to 150 pounds with assistance; handle 300 pounds cart
Stretching and bending required; stand, walk, reach, stoop, kneel, crouch for patient care
Compliance
Adheres to company Standards of Business Conduct
Maintains current licensure/certifications if applicable
Skills and Abilities
Excellent verbal and written communication
Analytical thinking, decision-making, deadline meeting
Independent, self-directed work without supervision
Environmental Conditions
Indoor, temperature controlled, smoke‑free; occasional outdoor exposure
Possible exposure to blood and body fluids
Handicapped accessible; wet surfaces, sharp objects, high noise levels
Hot/cold temperature extremes; may work under stressful circumstances
Productivity Standards
Maintains attendance standards; wears ID badge; follows dress code
Scheduled weekdays/weekends, evenings, nights; may work on religious/legal holidays, during disasters
May perform additional duties as assigned
