The Nutrition Services Clerk is responsible for clerical duties related to nutritional care and food service to patients. The role ensures that patients receive food as ordered by their Physician and/or Dietitian, and that patient meal services are carried out properly. The clerk assembles food trays correctly and expeditiously and assists in the kitchen as necessary. Qualifications

License or Certification:

Food Handlers course as required by state or county. Total Education, Vocational Training and Experience:

High School diploma or equivalent. Minimum one-year experience as a Diet Clerk/Nutrition Services Clerk in an acute care facility preferred. Effective communication skills in both writing and verbally. Machines, Equipment Used:

General office equipment such as telephone, copy machine, fax machine, calculator, computer. Physical Requirements:

Good visual acuity and communication skills. Ability to lift, push, pull, and retrieve objects approximately 100% of the time. Capable of safely lifting and carrying objects weighing up to 50 pounds regularly. Ability to push/pull objects weighing up to 150 pounds on wheels with assistance if necessary. Demonstrates safe retrieval skills from above the head to floor level with objects up to 50 pounds. Prolonged standing and walking are required. Ability to reach, stoop, bend, kneel, and crouch for patient care and equipment setup. Compliance:

Adheres to the company's Standards of Business Conduct. Maintains current licensure and/or certifications, if applicable. Skills and Abilities:

Effective speaking, reading, writing, and communication skills. Ability to coordinate, analyze, observe, make decisions, and meet deadlines in a detail-oriented manner. Capable of working independently without supervision. Environmental Conditions:

Indoor, temperature-controlled, smoke-free environment. Occasional outdoor exposure. Potential exposure to blood and body fluids. Handicapped accessible. Possible wet surfaces, sharp objects, high noise levels, and temperature extremes. May work under stressful circumstances. Proficiency or Productivity Standards:

Meets attendance standards. Adheres to hospital/department dress code, including wearing an ID badge. Flexibility to work weekdays, weekends, evenings, nights, and holidays as needed. Availability during disaster situations and to perform other duties as assigned.
