Commercial Real Estate Financial Analyst Location: Richmond, VA
Responsibilities
Assist with loan underwriting for all commercial real‑estate asset classes, focusing on healthcare assets.
Assist with drafting investment memoranda and presentations to investment committees for approval, including investors, Monticello’s credit committee, and banking syndicate partners.
Prescreen potential transactions and review personal financial statements. Model metrics include loan sizing, loan structuring, projected income, DSCR, global cash flow, and loan‑to‑value ratios.
Assist in the preparation of term sheets and letters of intent to prospective borrowers.
Develop financial models for evaluating bridge loan opportunities, reviewing potential healthcare transactions for feasibility and risk balance.
Perform due diligence and assist in reviewing collateral, drafting credit memos, loan documents, and other legal documents for working‑capital loans.
Conduct background checks and KYC reviews on all parties, including sponsor, operator, management, builders, and guarantors.
Oversee financial and operational due diligence for healthcare and other commercial loan transactions, ordering and evaluating appraisals, market studies, capital need assessments, environmental studies, financial statements, credit reports, insurance policies, and other underwriting documents.
Interface and resolve issues with clients, attorneys, and stakeholders to obtain required documentation during underwriting, review, and closing.
Calculate and interpret investment returns (IRR, NPV, ROI, ROE).
Analyze borrower budgets to ensure all operational information is captured in the financial model and reporting packages.
Review historical and projected financial data and assumptions for feasibility and stress‑test scenarios; conduct heavy pro‑forma analysis.
Create financial and marketing presentations for marketing purposes and distribute private placement offering materials to financial investors and loan participants.
Facilitate loan closings, coordinating with title companies, banks, borrowers, and investors.
Compile and analyze market trends.
Execute ad hoc projects related to process efficiency, technology platforms, reporting tools, and internal analysis capabilities.
Travel as required.
Work in the office as required by office policy.
Qualifications
1‑3 years in a CRE or finance role, preferably with debt underwriting/origination experience.
Bachelor’s degree.
Finance, accounting, credit, legal, real‑estate, and/or business background.
Established organizational skills and ability to handle multiple projects simultaneously.
Interest in financing healthcare, senior housing, multifamily housing, and/or renewable energy (preferred).
Extensive computer skills, including Excel, Word, and PowerPoint.
Strong oral and written communication skills, advanced financial analytical proficiency, and solid interpersonal skills.
A desire to learn and grow within the commercial real‑estate finance industry complemented by an inquisitive and proactive personality.
