The Specialist II shall conduct activities in Adult and Arts recreation programs.ESSENTIAL EXAMPLES OF DUTIESThe following illustrates examples of some of the essential duties and responsibilities of the Recreation Specialist II – Adult Centers/Arts. There may be other essential functions, not listed below, in order to accomplish the tasks as presented by the Supervisor.• Assists the Center Director in planning, coordinating, and scheduling an arts program for all age/ability levels of individuals in the community;• The specialist organizes, instructs individuals, or groups in arts and crafts, and other similar activities that can be modified to their abilities;• Supervises subordinate personnel;• Performs other related duties as required.KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES• Comprehensive knowledge of the history and philosophy of recreation for the elderly;• Skill and technique to instruct a variety of arts and crafts recreational activities for the elderly;• Ability to recognize physical and behavioral disorders associated with the elderly and prepare arts and crafts recreational programs and activities enabling their ability and participation in these activities;• Ability to gain the confidence and arouse the enthusiasm of the elderly in-group settings;• Ability to follow written and oral instructions and work effectively with other employees and the general public;• Ability to communicate clearly and concisely, orally and in writing, to groups and individuals.PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:The following are some of the physical requirements associated with this position.
