Nestled in the charming seaside town of Saint Andrews, The Algonquin Resort Golf Course is a premier destination known for its storied history, breathtaking coastal landscapes, and unmatched golfing experience. Dedicated to upholding the highest standards of service excellence, we are seeking an enthusiastic and team-focused individual to join us as our Assistant Golf Professional.
Location The Algonquin Golf Club Posted 2025-11-20 Deadline 2026-02-28 Job Summary As our Assistant Golf Professional, and reporting to the Director of Golf, you will have the opportunity to work closely with other Golf Professionals and a team of diverse golf enthusiasts. Your position will drive guest and member satisfaction through the smooth day-to-day operation, while encouraging special moments to make every round memorable.
Leadership & Oversight
Leading the team by assisting with training, coaching, and guidance when required.
Spearheading communication to ensure all team members are aware of special events, and operations as well as operations at the rest of the resort.
Supporting the Golf Shop Attendants, Outside Service Attendants, and Starters/Marshals, to ensure they have the tools and equipment required to complete their tasks.
Supervising team members to ensure smooth operation, while following policies and procedures.
Shift Management
Coordinate with the opening and closing teams to maintain consistent service standards throughout the day.
Oversee transitions between shifts and confirm each area is fully staffed and prepared.
Assist with duties including booking tee times, checking in guests, and taking payment.
Assist with merchandising when required.
Golf Culture & Guest Engagement
Guide associates in embracing golf traditions, rules, and etiquette through education and training.
Encourage positive guest interactions, proactively offering assistance and sharing local knowledge.
Collaboration
Work closely with the Director of Golf and Golf Professional to learn best practices and benefit from established insight.
Keep open communication with all departments (Golf Shop, Outside Services, Hotel Departments) to ensure seamless guest experiences.
Qualifications
Active PGA of Canada Member or another PGA-recognized professional status in progress (an asset)
Positive, team-oriented attitude with solid organizational, communication, and interpersonal skills
Comfortable juggling multiple duties under pressure, maintaining a calm and courteous demeanour
Reliable, with the ability to work flexible hours (including weekends/evenings)
Previous retail experience is an asset
Compensation
Base Salary: $780-$840 weekly (based on experience)
Lesson Revenue: Instruction opportunities (private lessons, junior program), with 80% of lesson revenue paid to the professional
