PetSmart’s Pet Stylist in Training is responsible for engaging with pet parents and their pets while providing positive experiences and best in class salon services. This position will receive training and guidance from experienced Professional Styling teams, learning grooming techniques. The role supports the store’s vision, mission, values, and strategy, contributes to store cleanliness, recommends solutions for pet parents, and upholds pet safety standards. The Pet Stylist in Training role is obtained after completing the PetSmart Grooming Academy. Essential Responsibilities
Under supervision, performs full menu of bath, brush and grooming services and standalone services (e.g., nail trims, teeth brushing, sanitary services) according to PetSmart’s bathing standards and procedures. Develop and display safe technical skills to meet or exceed company expectations. Recommend health and wellness solutions to Pet Parents based on the pet’s needs. Ensure a positive pet parent experience in person, over the phone, and at the sales register. Greets pet parents, answers questions, and assists with making salon reservations. Conduct appointment reminder calls, maintain client records, and consult with pet parents on services offered. Handle check-in and check-out procedures for grooming appointments, including paperwork and rebooking. Promote salon sales to help achieve sales targets and relevant salon metrics. Recommend, inform, and sell merchandise and services. Maintain cleanliness, sanitation, and humane conditions for all pets in the grooming area; perform end-of-day cleaning per maintenance checklist. Take immediate action when a sick/injured pet is identified; transport to the vet as needed. Assist in other departments as required. Other duties may be assigned. Participate in the culture of Belonging and Recognition. Follow all Company Policies and Procedures. Qualifications
Successful completion of PetSmart’s Salon Academy training and safety certification program. Prior grooming experience preferred; may be asked to complete a technical exam. Proficiency in computer applications. Ability to react under pressure and maintain composure. Flexibility in schedule; able to work evenings, weekends, and holidays as needed. Strong organizational skills and attention to detail and safety measures. Strong written and verbal communication skills. Physical Demands and Work Environment
Associate required to stand, walk, climb a ladder, and use hands to handle, feel, hold, write, etc. May reach with hands and arms; may stoop, kneel, and crouch. Specific vision abilities required. Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform essential functions. Ability to lift/move up to 50 pounds; occasionally team lift and/or move more than 100 pounds. Specific vision abilities required; depth perception.
