This position is responsible for managing and estimating incoming projects for the business unit to bid on per the direction of the Business Unit Leader. The role includes project discovery, estimating, contract negotiation, providing feedback and information during construction, and project close out. This position often involves take-offs, budgeting, and client presentations during the “sell” phase.
Duties & responsibilities:
Read and interpret construction documents including RFPs, plans, specifications, and standards to understand scope of projects for estimating and contract compliance
Perform quantity takeoffs of documents using takeoff software or manual field measurements
Participate in site visits to better understand the requirements of the bid documents
Estimate labor and equipment costs associated with bid documents
Obtain bids and quotes from subcontractors and suppliers to be used in estimates
Submit bid questions to the customer by the question cutoff date
Prepare Bids and Proposals using takeoff quantities, labor and equipment estimates, subcontractor and supplier quotes, as well as any other costs for a given project by the bid date
Prepare required proposal and bid documentation as part of the submission to the customer
Schedule, participate in and prepare agendas for project meetings such as Pre-Bids, Pre-Construction, “Makers and Breakers”, etc.
Manage and organize job folders
Maintain positive relationships with industry partners and vendors
Participate in company sponsored training as required
Perform special projects as assigned
Requirements:
Education:
Bachelor’s degree in Construction Management, Civil Engineering, or related field (or equivalent experience)
Experience:
3–5 years in estimating, preconstruction, or project management within commercial or design-build construction
Knowledge:
Strong understanding of construction processes, methods, and materials
Familiarity with building codes, safety regulations, and contract compliance
Skills:
Effective communication skills, including writing, reporting, and presenting to clients and internal teams
Excellent time management, project management, and organizational skills
Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities with the capacity to meet critical deadlines
Ability to work independently and proactively pursue improvements
Positive attitude, professional demeanor, and team-oriented mindset; strong role model for ethics and integrity
Technical Proficiency:
Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel), Adobe Acrobat Pro
Experience with estimating and takeoff software
Other Requirements:
Valid Colorado driver’s license with a clean driving record.
Ability to pass post-offer background check (employment history, references, criminal record, and MVR).
Willingness to assist other departments when necessary.
Knowledge of State and Local Stormwater Management requirements
Knowledge of Sage Estimating, Sage 300, and E-Takeoff software
Bilingual in English and Spanish
