Rockland Trust is currently seeking a Commercial Loan Officer to build relationships with various commercial businesses throughout the community. The individual in this role will source, develop and manage commercial banking relationships, with a focus on growing the portfolio by providing financial solutions to both existing and new customers.
The role is a trusted advisor who understands the customer's business environment and is able to provide solutions that demonstrate an understanding of their financing, cash management and overall business needs to add value to their business.

Responsibilities
Develop new business opportunities through business development efforts; including new client solicitation, active involvement in industry organizations, and expansion of existing client base.
Service a wide variety of secured and unsecured loans or lines of credit.
Actively identify opportunities to cross-sell other bank products and services to customers and prospects including Cash Management, Investment Management and deposit products.
Attend to the needs of customers, maintaining frequent contact and ensuring needs are handled properly.
Anticipate emerging customer trends as a basis for recommending products and services and expanding the business.
Interview applicants to develop information concerning their businesses, needs, desires, abilities, and earnings to determine whether a loan may be an acceptable risk. Give financial advice and counsel to customers and prospective customers.
Review existing credits and new credit applications, analyze credit quality and make recommendations as to how to structure and price deals.
Guide the credit department or junior officers in the development and analysis of financial background data for new or renewed loans.
Present relevant data and recommendations to the Management and Senior Loan Committee when appropriate. Make decisions on loans and terms within established lending limits.
Follow current loans and credit lines to ensure complete compliance with terms.
Maintain awareness of maturing credits, overdue payments, financial information reporting; etc., which could affect the status of the commercial relationships and take appropriate action.
Work with Portfolio Managers to insure that financial information is collected on a timely basis and that credit exposure is properly rated reflecting credit quality over time.
Represent Rockland Trust in business and community activities.
Required Experience
Qualified candidates will have at least five years of commercial lending experience in our market, strong credit skills and a record of success in developing, maintaining and closing new business.
Formal credit training preferred.
Ability to utilize deductive and inductive reasoning to solve problems.
Ability to understand new information and apply it for future problem-solving and decision-making.
In-depth understanding of commercial industry, business development techniques and credit decisions.
Proven business development track record, with ability to conceptualize and implement effective new business strategies.
Extensive network of outside referral sources for new business.
Excellent credit and financial analysis skills.
Effective negotiation skills.
Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships.
Demonstrated ability to review and evaluate documentation for risk.
Related experience with regulatory, compliance and due diligence requirements.
Strong organizational, reasoning and communications skills.
Self-motivated and independent with the ability to multi-task, balance a demanding work load and meet critical deadlines.
PC skills including Word, Excel and Power Point are required.
