Essential Functions
Delivers new licenses and appropriate educational material to new vendors and educates them on their responsibilities as vendors and how to comply with those responsibilities.
Review the new vendor business model to determine the appropriate items to tax.
Meets with vendors who have questions about their accounts, difficulty complying with their responsibilities, or who may be having financial difficulty.
Arrange payment plans and perfect lien filings.
Ensures that temporary events in their areas are set up for tax collection on their sales.
Conducts cigarette inspections in their respective areas and confiscates contraband and counterfeit products.
Investigate the business activity of vendors.
Investigate unlicensed sales operations and attempts to license non-compliant vendors.
Other duties that may be assigned.
Preferences / Agency Requirements
Must have a current valid driver's license.
Knowledge
Knowledge of State statutes as they pertain to Excise and applicable taxes.
Knowledge of teaching techniques.
Minimum Qualifications Education:
Bachelor's Degree (typically in Finance)
Experience:
0-3 years of work experience (typically in Tax Examination) with acquired knowledge at the level of a Senior Tax Examiner
OR
Education & Experience Substitution:
4-6 years of work experience (typically in Tax Examination) with acquired knowledge at the level of a Senior Tax Examiner
Certificates, Licenses, Registrations:
None
Physical Working Conditions Some days in an office environment. Some days driving to various locations.
