Account Manager – Plastic Sales Position Overview
Thunderbird Molding is a full‑service custom injection molder offering injection molding, insert and over molding, as well as assembly, heat‑staking, pad printing, sonic welding, and other value‑added services. New account development is essential to our growth objectives. We are seeking a motivated, experienced, and dedicated sales professional to help grow our business in the Eastern Seaboard Region. The ideal candidate should have a working knowledge of the injection molding process with a technical background to engage customers effectively.
Essential Functions
Develop relationships with new and existing accounts to generate quote opportunities.
Conduct in‑person meetings and presentations with accounts.
Follow up and monitor status of quoted programs; prepare required reports.
Proactively network and prospect for new customer contacts to build long‑lasting relationships.
Accurately collect all required information for the Costing Department to enable timely project quotes.
Continually service all accounts to ensure customer satisfaction and provide assistance when needed.
Required Experience
Bachelor’s degree (BA or BS) or equivalent experience.
Extensive travel required.
Valid driver’s license with a good driving record.
Proven ability to develop a sale from cold call through close.
Demonstrated success in identifying and developing targets that fit the business plan.
Documented success in account management and customer service.
Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
Ability to speak in front of small groups and deliver impactful presentations.
Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook).
Preferred technical knowledge of injection molding.
Sales experience in manufacturing or new product design environments.
Mechanically inclined and technically oriented background.
Physical Demands and Work Environment
Conduct oneself with the highest ethical and moral standards.
Prioritize and execute tasks efficiently.
Highly motivated, results‑driven, and detail‑oriented.
Team player capable of multitasking.
Strong written and verbal communication skills for interactions with customers, office staff, production, and vendors.

Required travel up to 25%.
Position requires on‑site presence.
