OVERVIEW
The Punch Press Operator performs an array of functions in the manufacture of Ideal products, including equipment operation such as hydraulic/punch presses and spot welding in preparation for the final assembly process. This full‑time role is based in Mansfield, Ohio, working closely with and reporting to, the Press Supervisor.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS & RESPONSIBILITIES
Perform work as detailed in blueprints, drawings, work instructions, work orders, drawings, and data specifications.
Set up fixtures, frames, arbors, and stator heads for lamination stacking, producing a variety of rotor poles, stator, and/or transformer cores.
Set up and operate a variety of equipment including punch presses, large and small squaring sheared and feeders, and spot welders.
Wind rotors and poles with copper bars and/or end rings, cleaning copper as needed.
Drill pole mounting holes, rivets, to form a variety of parts using hand rolls or power presses.
Hand‑feed sheet metal into presses when required.
Move materials to and from equipment being operated.
Perform work to meet required tolerances and finish specifications.
Properly instruct new learners on all duties of the position.
Obtain parts and supplies necessary for completing assigned work.
Maintain a safe, clean, and organized work area.
DESIRED QUALIFICATIONS & COMPETENCIES
High School Diploma or certified equivalent
Prior experience working in a manufacturing environment
Experience with motors, generators, and large rotating equipment helpful
POSITION TITLE: Punch Press Operator
Comprehension of, and ability to perform work according to blueprints, drawings, work instructions, and work orders
Ability to work in a fast‑paced environment
Experience using hand tools, tape measures and other measuring equipment/gages, punch presses, hydraulic presses, hand torch, power wrenches, power shears, band saw, powered industrial trucks, overhead cranes, power hoist, grinders, electric and air hand drills, impact hammer, weigh scales, induction heating equipment, arbor press, pyrometer
WORKING CONDITIONS AND WORK HOURS
Daily minimum of 8 hours. Weekly 40 hour minimum.
Overtime as required, subject to production schedules and may vary based upon specific department and customer needs.
This position generally operates in the manufacturing areas of the facility.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS While performing the duties of this job, the employee:
is regularly required to listen/hear, talk, read, write, and count
is frequently required to stand, sit, walk, push, pull, bend, crouch, crawl, kneel, stoop, climb, and balance; use hands to finger, handle, or feel; reach with hands and arms; enter small and/or confined spaces
will be required to, with regularity, ascend and work from ladders, platforms, scaffolding, and stairs to heights of up to 20 feet
will be required to, with regularity, lift and or move weights of up to 30 pounds unassisted
must be able to exhibit specific vision abilities required by this job which include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus
