Mortgage Field Services Inspector
FAR Inspections is seeking highly motivated individuals to perform residential occupancy verifications on behalf of mortgage lenders. This is a 1099 independent contractor position based in Reno, NV that offers a flexible schedule and predictable, full‑time or supplemental income.
Overview Independent contractors verify property occupancy, capture exterior photographs, and report general property condition using a mobile application. Most inspections are exterior only and typically take 5–6 minutes. About 10% of inspections require interior photos after a property has gone vacant.
Responsibilities
Complete the inspection within 4 days after it is assigned.
Report general property conditions and determine occupancy based on industry standards.
Take 9+ photos of the property with brief comments.
Complete a short form in the inspection app.
Drive long hours while making numerous stops within the assigned county territory.
Work independently and manage time to meet deadlines.
Requirements
Computer with reliable internet connection.
Reliable vehicle (good gas mileage is a plus; you will pay for your own gas).
Smartphone (Android or iPhone).
Printer.
Ability to pass a standard background check using a valid driver's license.
Pay & Hours This is a 1099 position. Each inspection has a flat rate that varies by county and volume. Although you are paid per inspection, you can earn the equivalent of
$30‑$40 per hour
by completing 20–500 inspections per month, which may take 2–30 hours per week depending on county type.
Pay rates are higher in lower‑volume counties and lower in higher‑volume counties. There is no set number of inspections per month, but the work is consistent month‑to‑month. Earn more as you become established, have greater availability to inspect, or are willing to cover a larger territory.
No additional mileage reimbursement above the flat fee per inspection.
