Job Description
EHS Specialist
Responsible for supporting the EHS efforts in a manufacturing and distribution facility. Incumbent will provide local workplace Environmental, Health, and Safety leadership. This position will be responsible for EHS programs including training, waste management, accident investigation, and recordkeeping. The Specialist will collaborate with operational leaders to implement strategies aimed at proactively mitigating risk, establishing a safe work environment and safe behaviors while complying with local, State, and Federal requirements.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
Promotes a strong culture of safety and environmental stewardship in compliance with applicable company policies and procedures.
Plans and manages employee injury and illness prevention programs including JSAs, Fall Protection, Lockout/Tagout and Machine Guarding.
Ensures facility compliance with applicable federal, state, and local regulatory requirements.
Directs and coordinates the accident investigation process, root cause analysis and completion of corrective actions.
Conducts or manages vendors completing safety audits, industrial hygiene inspections and other surveys as needed.
Maintains training and records to ensure compliance with EHS regulations and record retention guidelines; presents and develops training as needed.
Completes environmental reporting, maintains records, and keeps abreast of all new requirements at the state and federal levels for air, water, and waste.
Coordinates the management and disposal of hazardous material and chemicals; provides for the collection, transportation, and storage of hazardous waste.
All other duties as assigned.
Experience Required Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:
3 years’ work experience; or five+ years related experience and training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
Proficient in EHS practices and standards.
Proficient with computer applications and related analytical systems.
Excellent communication skills including verbal and written.
Proficient in project management with minimal functional guidance.
Education Required
• Bachelor's degree (Safety/Environmental preferred)
