Mortgage Field Services Inspector – FAR Inspections
FAR Inspections is seeking highly motivated individuals to perform residential occupancy verifications on behalf of mortgage lenders.
Independent contractors earn predictable full-time or supplemental income and enjoy a flexible schedule. What is an Occupancy Verification?
Mortgage lenders require periodic updates on their properties. The purpose of the property inspection is to verify property occupancy and to report on the general condition of the property using a mobile application.
Responsibilities Complete most inspections (exterior only) within 5-6 minutes. Complete each inspection within 4 days after assignment.
Report general property conditions and determine occupancy based on industry standards.
Take 9+ photos of the property with brief comments.
Complete a short form in a mobile app.
Drive within the assigned territory for extended periods of time, making numerous stops the day.
Requirements
Computer with an internet connection.
Reliable vehicle (good gas mileage is a plus; you will pay your own gas).
Smartphone (Android or iPhone).
Printer.
Pass a standard background check using a valid driver’s license.
Pay and Hours This is a 1099 position. Each inspection has a flat rate that varies by county and volume. Equivalent pay is approximately $30‑$40 per hour.
Depending on the county and whether it is urban or rural, you will complete anywhere from 20 to 500 inspections per month, working 2‑30 hours per week. Lower volume counties have higher rates; higher volume counties have lower rates. There is no set amount of inspections per month, but the work is consistent month‑to‑month.
Earn more as you become established, have greater availability to inspect, or are willing to cover a larger territory.
No additional mileage reimbursement above the flat fee per inspection.
