Overview The City of Friendswood is hiring full‑time
POLICE OFFICERS
for the Police Department. Candidates will perform routine patrol, crisis intervention, and preliminary criminal investigations while building a problem‑solving partnership with the community.
Responsibilities
Conduct routine patrols throughout the city to maintain public safety.
Respond to emergency calls and provide crisis intervention.
Perform preliminary investigations of crimes and collect evidence.
Interact with the public, demonstrating excellent human‑relations skills.
Prepare detailed reports and maintain accurate records.
Participate in ongoing training and professional development.
Qualifications
Must meet one of the following:
TCOLE certified.
Enrolled in a TCOLE‑accredited entry‑level program (police academy).
Three years of active duty in the U.S. Armed Forces with an honorable discharge.
60 accredited college hours with a cumulative GPA of 2.0.
Good human‑relations skills and the ability to work well with all segments of the public.
Compensation & Benefits
Starting salary: $70,686.00 – $91,686.00 annually (depending on experience).
Cadet status for new hires: $54,250.56 while attending academy; transition to full officer salary upon graduation.
TCOLE certification incentive pay: $1,200 per year for Associates, $1,800 for Bachelors, $2,400 for Masters, $2,100 for Intermediate certification, $2,700 for Advanced, $3,300 for Master.
Health, dental, vision, life insurance.
TMRS retirement with 7% contribution and 2:1 match (reaching 20‑year retirement).
Paid time off: 14 holidays, 3 personal days, 12 sick days, 15 vacation days.
Military leave, overtime or compensatory time.
Tuition reimbursement program and longevity pay.
